On April 13, 2021. In the reading room No. 1 of the FGSN, the Fiction Section of the Library and Information Center and the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies organized an event in the style of Harry Potter, dedicated to the work "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" by the popular English writer J.K. Rowling, as part of the annual republican campaign "One Country – One Book".
The dean of the faculty Turarova A.N., teachers and students were invited to the evening. Nurgul Kabazova, head of the fiction sector of the Library and Information Center, told about the history of this action, about the purpose of this campaign, and listed all the events from 2007 to 2020 in turn. This year's event is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the country's Independence. Within the framework of this campaign, entitled "30 books – the 30th anniversary of Independence", 30 best works of famous Kazakh authors in the field of poetry, prose, drama, children's literature and translation were selected for national reading. At the evening, the traditional book exhibition "One country – one book" was decorated, where the works of selected authors in the field of poetry, prose, drama, children's literature and translation were presented, as well as other books by these authors of different years of publication. Also on the library's website there are full electronic versions of 30 books.
At the evening in the style of H. Potter, students were briefly introduced to all sections of the work in 3 languages, interviewed the actors (students) who played the main roles, and a dramatization of one of the episodes of the film based on the work was shown.
At the end of the evening, senior lecturer of the Department of "Foreign Philology and Translation" Shim T.V. shared her opinion and thanked the students.
