180 YEARS SINCE THE BIRTH OF ABAI KUNANBAEV

                                                                                                  Dear readers!

On February 27, 2025, as part of the project "Auliyeata – a Reading Region," the Sector of Fiction Literature at the Library and Information Center of Taraz University named after M.Kh. Dulati, along with students from the Department of "Culture and Arts," held a literary-musical composition titled "Abai - the Wise, Abai - the Unique Kazakh!" dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbaev.
In order to promote reading and popularize domestic literature among youth, the head of the region, Erbol Karashukeev, declared 2025 as the Year of Reading in our region. In this regard, the project "Auliyeata - a Reading Region" was officially launched recently.
The aim of the evening was to promote national values and highlight the spiritual and cultural significance of Abai's work. The event sought to increase youth interest in Kazakh culture and literature by popularizing Abai's legacy, exploring the profound essence of artistic expression, and reviving national art and traditions.
The literary evening featured senior lecturers from the Department of "Culture and Arts," including Kunenova P.S. and Moldazimova A., along with students from the same department. Nurgul Sapargaliyevna, head of the Sector of Fiction Literature at the Library and Information Center, spoke at the event, emphasizing that everything in our independent country should be connected to Abai's wisdom. She introduced attendees to the moral life of Abai Kunanbayev, the founder of Kazakh literary language, and presented a book exhibition titled "The Precious Heritage of Abai."
The literary-musical evening was accompanied by a slideshow dedicated to Abai's life and work. Students from the Department of "Culture and Arts" recited poems and moral teachings by heart, as well as translations and excerpts from Abai Kunanbaev's poems. Additionally, songs (choir) such as "Желсіз түнде жарық-ай" and "Көзімнің қарасы" were performed. The audience was asked questions related to Abai's life and work. The event showcased the moral life, wisdom, and spiritual noble heritage of the great poet.
In conclusion, organizers spoke about how Abai's works guide future generations towards fidelity and goodness. On behalf of the university administration, participating students were awarded "Letters of Appreciation." Events celebrating the poet's anniversary and within the framework of the project "Auliyeata - a Reading Region" will continue at the library.
