Dear Librarians!
We invite you to take part in the digital training session “IPR SMART: COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT, STATISTICS, AND REPORTING” which will be held on September 10 at 3:00 p.m. Almaty time.
The main objective of this session is to help university libraries maximise the value of their existing subscription. You will learn how to navigate the content quickly, use IPR SMART tools for demonstrations to faculty members and students, complete Appendix 1 efficiently, and reduce the library’s operational workload associated with user training, particularly for first-year students.
Library directors, information resource specialists, collection development specialists, and library marketing professionals are welcome to attend.
Main topics:
● What changed in IPR SMART in the summer of 2026?
We will review the platform’s key updates in one session, explore the updated sections, show where the familiar tools are now located, and introduce the new opportunities available to librarians.
● How can you spend less time on routine tasks?
We will demonstrate how to collect content data—for example, the figures required for Appendix 1—in just one minute. We will also explain how to monitor statistics and user registrations and how to work with newly introduced academic disciplines.
● How can you work more effectively with academic and research literature?
We will cover catalogue searches, filters and recommendations, working with texts and notes, and methods for selecting materials for lectures, practical classes, and students’ independent study.

On August 31, 2026, the staff of the Automation and Database Coordination Department of the Library and Information Center conducted a training seminar for librarians aimed at enhancing their professional qualifications and developing digital competencies.
The seminar focused on international and national databases available to the University, including RMEB, Paragraph, IPR SMART, eLIBRARY.RU, PROFobrazovanie, E-UNI, Scopus, Web of Science, Wiley Online Library, and EBSCOhost.
📌 The practical part of the seminar included a knowledge assessment for librarians, which helped evaluate the staff’s level of professional competence, reinforce the knowledge gained, and identify areas for further competency development.
Such training activities are an important part of the continuous professional development of library specialists, helping to enhance their skills in working with digital resources and improve the quality of information services provided to users.
