180 YEARS SINCE THE BIRTH OF ABAI KUNANBAEV

              On February 27, 2025, as part of the project "Auliyeata – a Reading Region," the Sector of Fiction Literature at the Library and Information Center of Taraz University named after M.Kh. Dulati, along with students from the Department of "Culture and Arts," held a literary-musical composition titled "Abai - the Wise, Abai - the Unique Kazakh!" dedicated to the 180th anniversary of the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbaev.
       In order to promote reading and popularize domestic literature among youth, the head of the region, Erbol Karashukeev, declared 2025 as the Year of Reading in our region. In this regard, the project "Auliyeata - a Reading Region" was officially launched recently.
      The aim of the evening was to promote national values and highlight the spiritual and cultural significance of Abai's work. The event sought to increase youth interest in Kazakh culture and literature by popularizing Abai's legacy, exploring the profound essence of artistic expression, and reviving national art and traditions.
      The literary evening featured senior lecturers from the Department of "Culture and Arts," including Kunenova P.S. and Moldazimova A., along with students from the same department. Nurgul Sapargaliyevna, head of the Sector of Fiction Literature at the Library and Information Center, spoke at the event, emphasizing that everything in our independent country should be connected to Abai's wisdom. She introduced attendees to the moral life of Abai Kunanbayev, the founder of Kazakh literary language, and presented a book exhibition titled "The Precious Heritage of Abai."
     The literary-musical evening was accompanied by a slideshow dedicated to Abai's life and work. Students from the Department of "Culture and Arts" recited poems and moral teachings by heart, as well as translations and excerpts from Abai Kunanbaev's poems. Additionally, songs (choir) such as "Желсіз түнде жарық-ай" and "Көзімнің қарасы" were performed. The audience was asked questions related to Abai's life and work. The event showcased the moral life, wisdom, and spiritual noble heritage of the great poet.   
    In conclusion, organizers spoke about how Abai's works guide future generations towards fidelity and goodness. On behalf of the university administration, participating students were awarded "Letters of Appreciation." Events celebrating the poet's anniversary and within the framework of the project "Auliyeata - a Reading Region" will continue at the library.

          In order to foster a correct historical consciousness regarding the leaders of the Kazakh national liberation movement - Alash Orda and their associates in the struggle for national statehood, the faculty members of the Department of "History and Geography" and the staff of Reading Rooms No. 6 and No. 7 of the Library and Information Center invite you to a round table discussion titled «The Precious Heritage of Alash Leaders - a treasure for Future Generations».  
         This event is held in accordance with the plan for the informational support of the publication of the historical-documentary collection «The Alash Orda аffair.1920-1940. Documents and Materials».
         This 12-volume work represents the first attempt at a systematic publication of materials about Alash Orda. The collection includes materials from investigative cases that have been kept in closed archives of the National Security Committee, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the General Prosecutor's Office for nearly a century. These documents reveal details about the repressions faced by outstanding figures who fought for the independence and statehood of the country.
