«Бердібек Соқпақбаев – балалар әдебиетінің бәйтерегі»
The annual republican campaign "One Country, one Book" enjoys special demand and interest among readers. This year, as part of the Republican campaign "One Country, One Book", we are reading the works of the outstanding Kazakh writer, classic of children's literature Berdibek Sokpakbayev, whose 100th anniversary is included in the UNESCO Calendar of Commemorations.
In order to promote this campaign, events and book exhibitions were held throughout the year by the staff of the library and Information center. The final event of the republican campaign of 2024 is the literary evening «Бердібек Соқпақбаев – балалар әдебиетінің бәйтерегі», dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the famous Kazakh writer Berdibek Sokpakbayev, whose work has become a significant part of Kazakh children's literature, which was successfully held on December 4, 2024, conducted by employees of the fiction sector and active students of the Department of Culture and Art.
Nurgul Sapargalievna, head of the fiction sector, told about the history of the republican campaign "One Country and One Book" and, in turn, presented the traditional book exhibition "Balalyk Shaka Sayakhat", dedicated to the works of Berdibek Sokpakbayev. His works have always been based on real life stories, and most often from childhood. Berdibek Sokpakbayev's works were autobiographical and became widely known in our country and abroad.
The literary evening was attended by senior lecturer of the Department of Culture and Art P.S. Kunenova and students of the Department of Culture and Art.
The 2nd year students noted and analyzed his works "Journey to Childhood", "My name is Kozha", "The Dead do not Return", "Champion" and his other works of fiction that raised the level of Kazakh literature similar to Alatau. Berdibek Sokpakbayev became most famous for his novel "Menin atim Kozha" ("My name is Kozha"). It was published by the publishing house "Children's Literature", and then it was translated from Russian into 68 languages of the world and published abroad. The film of the same name, based on the author's script, was awarded an award at the Cannes International Film Festival. The 3rd year students of the Department of Culture and Art presented a performance based on the work "Menin atim Kozha" and received rave reviews from the audience. The 1st and 2nd year students read poems by Berdibek Sokpakbayev and poems dedicated to the writer.
In turn, the senior lecturer of the Department of Culture and Art noted that Berdibek Sokpakbayev is a unique writer. More than one generation of Kazakhstanis grew up on the works of Berdibek Sokpakbayev. I believe that such events should be held as often as possible so that our youth know and honor the country's outstanding figures.
At the end of the evening, senior lecturer of the Department of Culture and Art, P.S. Kunenova, thanked the participants and organizers of the evening and presented letters of thanks to the participants.
Archival recordings reflecting the multifaceted world of the writer's life and work were shown on the screen.
